langkawi

This is the 6th time I’m typing this. Quite irritating that Blogdrive.com keeps closing my page down!! It’s time to move to Blogspot.com for a brand new start.

I’ve been away since the 20th in Langkawi with Jolene, Ping May, Chiew Whoi, Wei-Lyn and Edward until the 22nd and was fun, I might add.

DAY ONE (20/12)

0700 – I was wide awake and in the shower before waking my Dad up for his.

0735 – I took a quick trip down my porch steps to the land of excruciating pain. So agonizing that my vision was dotted and my hearing was almost nonexistent. Took me awhile to get up and get to the car before picking Lyn up.

0830 – We arrived at the jetty to see Jo and Whoi already there and May was surprisingly, only 10 minutes late. Lottery ticket worthy. Unfortunately, a series of accidents involving lining up in the wrong line and having to change the boarding passes 10 minutes before the ferry departure time had us running to the ferry and me with an aching back.

0900 – All aboard, we had to look for places to sit and in the end, we were scattered all around. Seasickness sucks, by the way. We started being woozy about 2 hours into the trip and we sat around like dead fishes whilst Ms. Saw Ping May slept herself away, oblivious to our discomfort.

1145 – We finally reached and got out of the jetty. Ed & Lyn spent about 20-30 minutes scouting around for a car to rent whilst me, May, Whoi and Jo stood guard for the luggage. We finally settled on a Nissan Cefiro 3.0, RM84/person, including the RM100 deposit. 1315 – or so, we were in Perdana Beach Resort, dumping our luggage there before heading off for lunch in Padang Matsirat where we ate and snacked on good pisang goreng.

1400 – or so, we checked into the apartment and got units 3309 and 3311 which were side by side. After which, we lingered around lazily, watching tv and unpacking and chatting before running off downstairs for a swim in the murky pool. I got out when Lyn started talking about floating layers of epidermis, foreign particles and algae in the swimming pool. Gross.

1720 – We {me, Ed, Jo} finished showering and made it over to R3309 to wait before leaving to explore Kuah Town (and to look for an ATM machine for May). There, we went shopping for essentials where we stumbled upon very cheap alcoholic drinks. Very cheap.

We bought

Kampai: RM4.80

Carlsberg/Tiger/Heineken Beer: RM1.50

Jolly/Anglia Shandy: RM1.00

I didn’t buy beer, mind you.

1915 – or so, we landed ourselves in a very quiet eatery. Have I mentioned the deadness of Kuah? Anyway, we ordered food and had a scrumptious dinner. Not a dinner that was magnificent or sorts like that, but more… so-so. Penang food surpasses all.

2200 – We got back to the apartment after long walks around Kuah. We decided we couldn’t stand the stickiness of the floors so we decided to clean up. We spent the next hour doing just so.

By 2315, we headed over to R3309 for drinks and chor dai dee {CDD}. I didn’t really play, more sat around watching Ed, May, Jo/Whoi, Lyn battle it out. Jo was hilarious. She looked so red and puffy I had to take a picture of her in May’s ski cap. By about 0200, we were all in bed.

DAY TWO (21/12)

0900 – Rude awakening when my hp alarm decided to go off. But I couldn’t care less and went back to sleep, only to find my covers gone moments later and an insistent pushing from Edward. After bugging me, I kicked him out to wake the occupants of R3309 so I could catch forty winks. I heard him pounding on their door and lots of female and male voices yelling at each other before May gave me a call to ask me to save them and get him out. All I said was, “I wanna sleep.” And shut the phone to sleep. Finally, they were all awake and he came back to rouse me from the comforts of the bed and slumber. I need sleep, you know?

1100 – or so, we were all ready to leave and I was wide awake and we went for brunch at some lor mee stall.

1205 – We reached Durian Perangin Waterfall and snapped at least a million pictures. I stubbed my toe when I stumbled on a step. Luckily, my camera didn’t decide to escape my death grip. It was ok but not exceptionally beautiful. I’ve seen nicer ones.

1245 – We reached Tanjung Rhu. The beach was gorgeous - white, sandy beach and clear blue waters. Plus, the place was spotless. Not a plastic bag to be seen! Beautiful. There, we took even more pictures!! We had lunch there and I bought a pair of ‘happy pants’. We left at about 1430.

1505 – We visited the famous Pantai Pasir Hitam. Boring. The sand was black, yes, but it was dirty, ala Penang.

1550 – Then, we were on our way to visit Pantai Tengkorak when we missed a turning and ended up in The Datai. The resort was beautiful and exclusive. I was so afraid that I’d break the tranquility. We left shortly after, just in case we’d miss our cable car ride.

1440 – We got to the foot of Gunung Mat Cincang. Note that it’s ‘gunung’ not ‘bukit’. Mountain, not hill. During the cable car ride up, I was shaking so hard. You should’ve seen the look on May’s face. It was priceless. For that moment, I forgot she had a phobia of heights. The scene was beautiful and I was on top with Ed and Whoi when suddenly, Whoi disappeared and I got a message 10 minutes later that they were on their way down (May probably was petrified).

1845 – We left the place in search for dinner in Kuah Town. Finally, we found a place where there were more people than usual and the service was good. It was about 2000.

After dinner, we decided to go for a drive to finish up our petrol. Whoi’s friends came to join us for awhile. One of them had a name similar with mine! Xin-Ci! Cute. We got to Sheraton Perdana and we walked about the grounds and sat by the pool talking till 0100. When we got back, we lingered around R3309 till 0200 before hitting the hay.

Day three

1015 – Our last day - time flies. I was up and waiting to use the bathroom when Jo came in and said she showered already. By 1100, we checked out of the hotel and settled some stuff before moving at 1130. We got to the airport so Whoi could check out liquor prices before moving to Kuah. We had lunch at 1200 at a Nasi Kandar shop before returning the car.

1345 – We walked to Langkawi Fair from the Jetty to hunt for chocolates and souvenirs. After awhile, we were so tired, we went to McDonalds’ to sit away the hours.

1600 – We got a taxi back to the jetty which was only about 500 m away. Pathetic, yes?

Thankfully, the liquor passes the Customs easily and May managed to sneak two tiny bottles of whiskey out.

1735 – We left Langkawi and the journey back was long, windy but thankfully, not choppy. Whoi was busy snapping pictures at the open deck of the boat whilst May was snoozing downstairs. Me, Jo and Ed stayed up the longest before going back down at about 1920.

2000 – Home, sweet home.

There. Done.

So I’m tired after writing this about 6 times.

Merry Christmas people and I’ll be back tomorrow or the day after with stories on tomorrow’s Christmas Eve gatherings. Note the plural.

Feliz Navidad!

Saturday, December 18
driving, anyone?

Hello people.

Today's Saturday - LOUSY day.

Let me elaborate. I was rudely awoken by my pre-set alarm clock at 7AM and after hitting snooze for the next 15 minutes, I decided to get up afterall so I wouldn't be late. By 7.45AM some representative from Boon/Soon Lee driving school came to pick me up and due to a delay, we arrived at the driving school at... 8.20AM.

So I thought we'd get a move on to Butterworth to do that stupid KPP course. But - no. We hung around for close to another hour before leaving *scowL* I hate waiting like this. So eventually, we got to Butterworth at 9 something. I thought - oh 'yipee' we'll start so I get to go home earlier. Alas, what you want never comes so quickly. We only started 'class' at 11AM. Thankfully, I brought the portable CD/VCD/DVD player along so I played my CDs all the way through. Well, not all the way through. I wanted to save some battery. I slept most of the time anyway. We were let out for 'lunch' at... 1.30 and in all honesty, I barely ate. I saw flies and flies galore surrounding the rice and dishes, I decided - uh.. no. So, instead, I got iced Milo and a bun to munch before returning to the classroom to laze around with the portable player. At 2.30PM, class resumed and it was oh-so-boring.

Well, I take back my words.

Just when I was dozing off, the students started screeching and I was almost stampeded over. When I stood up, I saw a long long long and green garden snake rearing it's ugly head about. Ick. Snakes. Needless to say, I gathered my things in a jiffy and sprinted out, record time. Took the staff about 10 minutes to rid the classroom of the snake. Reptiles are my least favourite things in the world.

Unthankfully, or rather, thankfully, the rest of the class was pretty uneventful. I just spent the next few hours till 4PM listening to songs and pretending to pay attention. At some points, I was actually listening. But usually no more than 5 minutes in one go.

The class was finally over and we got ready to leave Melati Driving School, all the Penang-Islanders from Soon Lee/Boon crammed into one blasted van before departing. Believe it or not - the van was too bloody heavy to move initially - or even start! So we wasted a good deal of time lagging behind and having the driver ask a million and one times if we're all from Soon Lee Driving School. As if 'yes' the first.. what.. 14 times wasn't enough?

Eventually, we got back to good ol' Penang. It was 5.15PM. By the time I waited for transport, I was home by 5.35PM. Finally, back to the comforts of my bedroom. Really, the process I need to undergo before I actually learn hands on driving is tedious.

So anyway, I haven't been updating lately for a few reasons - nothing's been going on.

Other than Aafaq dislocating his shoulder.

My brother blasting the windowpane in my livingroom to smithereens.

Me, Lyn, Van, Pin, Zi, Nick and Eddy went to pay Ms. Khoo a visit (and had fun, might I add).

Attending college regularly (or not)

Oh.. and I'll be leaving for Langkawi on Monday for (hopefully) a very enjoyable time.

Nothing much's occurred.

So

Bye.

Haha.

And remember to miss me.

KDU's libs

The current mood? Pissed to the ends of the bloody universe.

Actually, I was already the brassed off student on Friday after my encounter with Ms. Bitchy Librarian of KDU. But, I just retold the story to my dad (who ended up being very very annoyed with her too) and I feel a resurgence of my initial anger at her. I already spent some time erasing markings I did not make on my entire Biology 1 textbook and frankly, I was just too fed up to do the same for my untouched Chemistry textbook. I'm really pissed to the ends of earth. She insisted I erase the bloody scribblings!!! Not my fault right?! not my bloody fault *scowls*.

Erasing the scribblings of my irresponsible senior will mean admitting to them it's my fault and my responsibility, even if it isn't! So really, I'm not the kind to take this lying down. So tomorrow, I'm going to march straight into the Center of Pre-U Studies and complain the ears out of Dr. Andy and make sure he does something about my lib account. If she was just using it as an empty threat, then good for me.. and her... because if Dr. Andy can't do anything about it, my Dad insists on coming and skinning her alive with a good lecture. Personally, if I were her, I'd rather face KDU's principal than my very brassed off Dad. She'd better know what's good for her!!

*scowL*

Worse of all - NICHOLAS "TCHAMBUDI-I-CAN-GET-AWAY-WITH-MURDER" AW did the same thing I did - refuse to erase the jottings and scribblings of the person who did it before us. And that bloody guy got off scott-free. *suLk

So anyway, it's 0140 and I'm still too agitated to sleep. My past few days have been rather uneventful. Boring even. College, home, college home - the same ol' routine for one week and will continue throughout this week before killing itself on the 18th. My fun only starts on the 20th where I'll be off to Langkawi for 3 days, be home for Christmas, 3 birthdays (includ. mine) and New Year's Eve before rushing back to that godforsaken course I'm currently pursuing. We barely have holidays! After my A2 I'm going to enjoy myself before settling down to prolly getting a part-time job or figuring out what in the world I'd like to do after that (maybe take a vacation to the US to visit?)... who knows.

So anyway, sleep I must.

Wish me luck for tomorrow's 'confrontation'

Thursday, December 9
KL Trip, continued.

THURSDAY [02.12.04]

1630 - The bus departed from Komtar. It was a long 4˝ hour busride with Lyn munching on those flourescent orange Super Rings and me immersed in Memoirs of a Geisha for the millionth time. Everytime I managed to nap on the bus, something would jerk me awake. Like when I was finally dozing, my eyes decided to open and see a dratted spider on Lyn's leg. Then it took me eons to get to sleep again. Again I slept and we were at the rest stop. Again I dozed and I opened my itchy eyes, rubbed them a bit and my contact decided to play hide and seek. Again I dozed and I felt something crawling down my arm and it was that DRATTED spider again. Have I ever mentioned my spidey-phobia?

2100 - We reached Puduraya, surprisingly without delay. But here came the tricky part - finding Plaza Rakyat LRT station. We must've walked rounds with our luggage before getting there and rounds more at our stop at Masjid Jamek. Walked till I gained blisters on my ankles!! Bummer!! Then when we finally got to Kelana Jaya, we ended up waiting for close to half an hour for Ms. Saw Ping May to make her grand entrance, being 'fashionably' late as always. I bet everyone else could hear my tummy grumbling at the lack of food to fill it up!

Later on, we finally made it out of Kelana Jaya LRT Station and to Kim Gary Restaurant where I ordered a weird looking and even weirder tasting dish that I absolutely refuse to mention whilst my Dad enjoyed his Foo-Yong Rice and Lyn devoured her Yong Chow Fried Rice happily. Bummer. After which we made it back to my Dad's apartment in Sunway, took baths and slept. Not too eventful for me when May's elbow ended up on my face. *blek*

FRIDAY [03.12.04]

0830 - We were supposed to wake up but, as usual, dozed off again.

0900 - One or two of us finally up but the rest still lazing in bed. Specifically -- FOONG PUI YAN.

1100 or so - We finally managed to finish our baths etc and departed in 2 separate taxis for Kelana Jaya LRT station. Ping May and Pui Yan were deadlike the whole way! When we got to Midvalley, we windowshopped and stopped the longest at FOS where we managed to persuade Chung Wei-Lyn to get a halter top. No, you did not read wrongly. It was her all right...

Then, we had lunch at yummy Burger King *YuM*. Why won't they open a branch in Penang?? Their burgers beat McD's by lightyears! Afterwhich we decided to jalan a bit before moving onto KLCC.
We took the shuttle bus to Bangsar LRT station and from there took the LRT to KLCC to walk till dinnertime. The best time was in Kinokuniya where I sat in a small secluded corner reading Lovely Bones. It was such a good book! I had to control myself not to cry in the bookstore. My next mission is to splurge on the book.

Then for dinner, Lyn took us to her favourite tai lok mee stall in KL somewhere near Petaling St. (otherwise known as KL hokkien mee) she was yapping about for eons and my God... I've never eaten anything as oily and as full of bak yu as it before! After a long dinner with me picking out every piece of liver I could find and pushing the bak yu away, we decided to take a walk in Petaling St. where I bought some ciplak Roxy tee while May got a football jersey.

After that, we took a long walk to the LRT station in Pasar Seni to get back to Kelana Jaya. Boy was I tired. But May was the best - snoozing everywhere at every possible opportunity. Figures. She's Saw Ping May. Once we got back to the apartment, we watched Stephen King's IT but didn't manage to finish it before we decided we were too darn tired.

SATURDAY [04.12.04]

We were supposed to wake at another unGodly hour but, alas, we never do! Nonetheless, we managed to wake up in time as to not delay Bee Sim and Pui Yan's departure. But at Masjid Jamek LRT station, we somehow got separated. Me, Lyn and Bsim got off but PYan and May were still stuck in the LRT moving to Dang Wangi! We wasted some time there but we made it to Puduraya in time to stop for some lunch at KFC where we saw Marion C.. something lar from 8TV Quickie. The one who Lyn sees all glowy and sorts haha.

After they departed, me, May and Lyn got to Sunway Pyramid where we ate ice-cream, windowshopped and shopped for stuff before meeting Joa for dinner once more at Kim Gary after Lyn wouldn't stop harping about the Yong Chow Fried Rice but I enjoyed my dinner that night. We chatted and went out to shop even more where Joa bought 2 skirts and 2 tops. She looked just so bloody good in them! Not fair coz she's got a nice body whereas I'm stuck with being totally out of proportion and being s.h.o.r.t. SHORT! I'm just SO short!

Anyway, Yi Xin picked us up and dropped us back to the apartment. He came in and hung out for awhile before leaving us to reminisce the old MGS days and talk about some serious stuff that really made me feel better. I still feel weird and not that great, but it's an improvement, by the way, thanks Joa and May. We decided to catch some sleep at around 4 something... no wonder we were so darn tired.

SUNDAY [05.12.04]

Alarms set off at 0830 but we only got up at 0915.. as usual really. Once we got ready, we got to the LRT station and Joa left us at Bangsar but May followed us till Masjid Jamek where we had lunch... or brunch... in Burger King *YuM* before leaving for the ever-so-congested Puduraya. We got onto the bus by 1220 and it departed at around 1235. Thankfully, I slept almost rightaway all the way till Bkt. Gantang rest stop where I got snacks to eat.

By the time I got home, it was 1800! Long busride. In all honesty, I prefer the 45 min air travel. *sighs*

Kesimpulannya?

I had lots of fun. I felt a lot better coz during those days I didn't think about anything that was troubling me. Didn't have to think about what drove me to go vacationing in KL in the first place to forget. But now that I'm back in Penang, I'm once more overridden with emotions I would prefer not to have. Oh well, that's life eh? *grin* I hope I survive!!

See you around~

This is May in her new uh.. snow cap from Wild Channel.
Part of her dress theme for her next semester lol

---------------------------------------------------------------

And now you see Lyn trying it out... cuutee!

---------------------------------------------------------------

OH another one at my dad's apartment... we decided to get the same sorta shirts
and Lyn didn't wanna :( It took eons to coax Joa into taking a pic

---------------------------------------------------------------

Ooh.. I'm bored, if you must know. We only had Mechanics today hallelujah and no Chemistry with Mr. Tan for the rest of December! Great news really. So after revising Newton's Law, me and Lyn headed home to sleep. The past few days have been exhausting, sleeping after twelve and waking before ten sorta thing... especially our last night in KL (i.e. Dec 4) we slept at like what... 4 something in the morning (Dec 5) and awoke at an ungodly hour around 9 before making it to Puduraya to catch our bus and dozing the entire way.

Ooh I've got lunch. Wait a moment yeah? WIll be back!

back from the land of the undead

HARLO

Haha so I know you guys've been missing me like hell, pestering me to update and all that, but sorry for being preoccupied with having my family in Penang (October), having my exams (AS: Oct-Nov) and other problems that have prevented me from updating hehe.. paiseh and apologies really. I haven't decided to abandon my blog just yet. Also the past few times I've attempted to update, stupid blogdrive just kills my entry!

So anyway, this is a short note just to let you guys know that I'm very much alive and kicking. Exams sucked but they're over and college has started. Well, I'll be going to Kay-el for the weekend and I'll be updating after that. I promise! Now I can use the internet lab in college, am I complaining? Nope. Free usage and a nice keyboard to type on!

Take care people and I'll be back before you can say "Missed you!"

Signing off ;)

PS: May, as much as you're my friend and all that, seeing your face the very first thing as the page loads doesn't make my day as you people seem to think so! =P

Sunday, October 10
saturday, mIdol and squabling neighbours

What's so great about Saturday? Don't ask me. It's been tedious. I slept at in the wee hours of the morning (circa 3 or 4AM), being the weekend insomniac teenager I am and woke up at.. approximately 1.07PM - yes, you read right; PM - to my mom's shrieks when she discovered I was still snuggled up in the sheets. So sue me, really. It was raining cats and dogs and when I opened my eyes sometime before that, the dark dark sky greeted me from my window. So naturally, I'd think it's still awfully early.

After I got up, I had a good and scalding hot bath before descending for my daily newspaper read. When I was diligently reading the papers, mother dearest {note sarcasm} decided to start shrieking again. This time, dripping with disdain, "Shang, I know your exams are over but someone else's exams aren't!". And what was my imbecile of a brother doing? Watching Arnold Schwarrze-whatever's Terminator 3 {stupid show by the way}. So I retorted with equivalent sarcasm, "One moment it's read the newspapers whenever you want and the other it's your exams are over her's is not!" Bloody hell.

After my dad came back, it was around 2.15PM when Lyn called. So I just said a few words before my mother once more decided to butt in. "Aren't you going to eat?! Don't you feel hungry!? Why aren't you eating?!" screeched she at me. I was glowing red with supressed anger by then so I yelled back that there was bloody no food in the house for me to consume when of course, there was - a pack of bee hoon from the market, lying on the dining table. She did not tell me she bought lunch back for me so how the hell did she expect me to know? Do I look like much of a psychic to you?

Anyhow, I ate lunch in the kitchen, seething away, before going upstairs to start physically abusing my pillow. In about an hour's time, Lyn called again about you know who and we yakked away really. Then I went with dad to collect his glasses from the optometrist's before heading off to Gurney to drop my sports shoes and his working shoes off at Mr. Lock & Shoe {it's at the basement, very closeby to Cold Storage} before walking to Aussino to get bedsheets on offer - 3 for $99.90. Ugly ones - yech.

Before leaving Gurney, I bought popcorn {McD's} and a pretzel {sour cream and onion from Auntie Anne's!} to stuff myself with at 6.15PM, about 2 hours away from dinner. Came home, changed and went out for dinner at around 8PM or so again.

Malaysian Idol report begins::

~JAC WON~

Ok, so I'm not her biggest fan. But like I said earlier - she's the only one out of the string of contestants who will not bring shame to our country at the World Idol competition, and I mean it. Imagine Vick, Saiful or even worse, ANDREW representing our country? I sure do not want to imagine what Simon Cowell will have to say about that {note that the people listed above are all male - girls rock!}! Kudos to Jac and though Dina's such a sweet girl with an adorable personality, she's not as consistent as Jac is. Though we all must understand that Jac's been singing since forever and experience-wise, Dina is no match.

By the way, the Malaysian crowd is SO extremely dead! At the Arena of Stars, the emcees Adam and Marion prompted the crowd to cheer for Jac but they were dead, and I mean dead.

I really would like to see the Indonesian Idol {who is a gospel singer, by the way} and the Singaporean Idol. We Asians aren't that appalling, voice-wise y'know.

Malaysian Idol report ends::

I caught a glimpse of Singaporean Jack Neo's I Not Stupid just now for a moment and was reminded of how much I love that movie. Now, now - why can't we Malaysians produce a movie as sweet and endearing as this? All we are capable of seems to be that ridiculous Ah Lok Cafe and Cinta Kolesterol which is, by the way, a rip-off from that Sammi Cheng-Andy Lau collaboration and don't ask me what the title was. I only remember two overweight people falling head over heels for each other!

Speaking of our neighbouring country, we {Malaysians and Singaporeans} really shouldn't be bickering over every little matter. So far, the most ridiculous has been the battle about water, then it's sand and next God-knows-what. Really, time to grow up! You guys are countries - not two babies in kindy fighting over crayons! Jeez.. and Lyn, Singapore is not the reason why you're in the predicament you are :)! *bleK*

By the way, I am sick of the monsoon season. Let it shine a bit now, but rain in time for tennis tomorrow! I am in absolutely NO mood to get out there and do my stuff on the blasted court.

PS: I feel like changing the title of my blog. What say you? Opinions appreciated.

Gimme a sign!!

Saturday, October 9
rainy days = sheer bad luck?

THURSDAY

Drenched? Nope. Not my cup of tea at all. But wait, let me get started. I woke up 'bright and early' for my ever so interesting and fascinating Biology lecture with Ms. Jeeva [note the sarcasm]. Afterwhich, I met Edward for lunch. It all started out bright and shiny till...

#I collected the Chemistry book [redspot] Aafaq lent me, I photocopied 2 copies [Pin and me] = RM38! I was SO broke 'cause I only had RM40 in my pockets!! Horror of horrors!

#Right when I started heading back for college it started to pour - and when I say pour, I MEAN pour. God decided to shower me with His holy water and bless me through and through! That didn't really matter too much.. UNTIL.. I stepped into the lab. A blast of cold air.. no.. shake that thought.. BITTERLY COLD air from the Arctic greeted my soaked skin! Think about having to spend TWO dreadful hours in that bloody freezing lab in sodden hair, wet clothes.. not to mention, heavy dripping jeans!

#When I was back to comfort in my own room in my PJs, staring at the blinding laptop screen, my mum came in.. ALL anxious about my bro's recent Sejarah paper [PMR]. So I had to plod through that ridiculously long paper, attempting to recall as much Malaysian history as possible.. failing too!

Thursday ended with me tucking into bed at 1.15AM or so, snoozing the night away like the pig I am... which brings me to..

FRIDAY

The day actually started quite all right. Jeeva's class was the usual bore, no doubt about that, but hey, I shouldn't expect her to go dancing and singing in theatherical fashion! Though it would be interesting to see the wooden Jeeva doing that... *mind wanders*

After Bio, I sat lounging in the cafeteria with Sures, Aafaq, Nicholas, Kanesh, Thinesh and Seelan.. Jag came in awhile too... playing with Kanesh's Asus PentiumM laptop! Surfing the Internet and my God.. don't ever do it with guys if you're hypersensitive about.. 'sensitive' pictures. Mary Cary, Kristin Kreuk, Jenna Jameson (??), you name it, they searched it! *Tsk Tsk*

I went out for lunch with Edward (yes, I know you guys are going, "AGAIN?!" But.. so what? *blek*) AND towards the end of the 'meeting' it started pouring again - BAD OMEN (in typical Chung "Dramatic and exasperating" Wei-Lyn fashion). True enough, when Chem started, I was innocently sipping - no.. make that gulping - water from my bottle when *spLasH* or more like *sputter sputter splat* all over... Wei Zi (who got it the worst!) and my Chem past year papers.  Nicholas, that blasted donkey, LAUGHED his heart out at my predicament - bloody b*stard.

But, me splattering water and the content of my saliva all over my desk, poor Zi and myself cannot compare to the horrificity (is there even such a word?) during dinner.

I had dinner with Uncle Sam and Su Yin since Mum, Ee Ee and Grandma were out for some wedding dinner. Uncle Sam treated us to Ingolf's in Sg. Kelian which I would normally over-appreciate since they serve good food but I over-ate at McDs in the evening.. my bloated tummy really could not take much more! I decided to save some money and order an $11.30 chicken salad "garnished with blue cheese, croutons and bacon bits" (adapted from Ingolf's Menu!). The innocent looking description did not produce a very innocent looking salad. It smelt a bit quirky at first but I didn't think too much of it - of course, until I got a forkful of that foul tasting concoction into my mouth and in contact with my taste buds! Then, I poked and squinted around in the dim light and to my ABSOLUTE HORROR - the ENTIRE salad was slathered in BLUE CHEESE! A little description of blue cheese for you, by the way, in case you didn't know.

Blue cheese is a general classification of cow's milk and/or goat's milk cheeses with a blue or blue-green mold.

The blue mold in these cheeses is due to mold spores from Penicillium roqueforti or Penicillium glaucum, etc.   Originally each of these cheeses were produced in caves in their respective areas, where the mold was naturally present. This combined with the unique nutrients that the mold grew on in the caves affected the flavor, texture and blue-green color of the mold in each of these cheeses.  In the beginning, this was most likely discovered by accident when cheeses were stored in the caves, and they developed mold.  Then someone decided to taste the cheese that others might have thought to be ruined, and realized how exquisite the taste had become.

Most blue cheeses today are either injected with the mold, as with Roquefort, or the mold is mixed right in with the curds, as it is with Gorgonzola, to insure even distribution of the mold. Most of these cheeses must still be aged in the original caves where they were developed to bear the name.

Imagine the HORROR of consuming the whole entire plate of vege, covered (every milimeter, micrometer, nanometer) with THE STENCH OF BLUE CHEESE! Oh dear God - the most excruciating hour of my life.

With that said, I've come to a conclusion that rainy days are simply bad bad BAD days for me (not to mention, Lyn too!). First, Lyn is up to her usual antics again (about who leh, you reckon? Who else??) then I am blessed by God's pour from above before being blessed by my holy water today(equipped with amylase, I must add) and then blessed by glasses Iced Lemon Tea while wolfing down the blue cheese with my stupid brother rubbing the fact that it reeks of a gagging smell in and my uncle and cousin in stitches as they witness my consumption of that ridiculous mouldy cheese! YUCK

PLEASE REFRAIN YOURSELF FROM CONSUMING EXCESS BLUE CHEESE

I repeat

PLEASE REFRAIN YOURSELF FROM CONSUMING EXCESS BLUE CHEESE

It's hazardous to your senses (taste, smell especially!)!

If you must take on this Fear Factor worthy challenge, please do it with paramedics on call, professionals at hand and of course, gallons of trust worthy H2O or anything of it's equivalent!

I think I'll stand by the toilet bowl to remove that rubbish from my spotless, uncontaminated digestive system.

Adios for now!

But before my holy presence leaves this blog, I would like to mention that Jac (though she's so lan si at times and can be really irritating) is most worthy of the two to win the Malaysian Idol competition. She is one who will not embarass us Malaysians in the international arena, should she compete in World Idol. She is without a doubt, spectacular.
